About The Art Tour

Our two-hour art tour will give you the experience of the captivating evolution of Vincent van Gogh's artistic technique during his renowned "Japanese" phase from 1886 to 1888.  Witness the vibrant brushwork, bold colors, and unconventional compositions as you explore masterpieces such as "The Courtesan," "Flowering Plum Tree," "The Bedroom," and "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear." Engage with the dynamic energy and emotional intensity that define van Gogh's iconic style, shaped by his deep admiration for Japanese art. Join us for an enlightening journey.

Our Vincent van Gogh Experience is Live.

You will take a peek at his extensive collection of Japanese woodblock prints, known as ukiyo-e, and find out what he found so interesting.  Van Gogh collected and studied these prints, carefully analyzing their techniques and incorporating their stylistic elements into his own work.

One of the most famous examples of van Gogh's Japanese-inspired works is his series of paintings of flowering trees, including his renowned artwork "Almond Blossoms." These paintings reflect his fascination with Japanese cherry blossoms and draw inspiration from the delicate and graceful portrayal of nature found in Japanese art.

Another notable example is his famous painting "The Bedroom." Van Gogh's depiction of the room with its simplified, almost abstract, furnishings and vibrant colors is reminiscent of the aesthetic found in Japanese prints.

Van Gogh's collection of Japanese prints was not only a source of artistic inspiration but also a personal treasure. He carefully studied and categorized his prints, even creating a detailed inventory. He often shared his collection with other artists and friends, spreading his passion for Japanese art.

  • Affordable Access

In today's digital age, virtual visits offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional travel, especially when it comes to exploring international art collections. Traveling to a physical location, particularly overseas, can be a significant financial undertaking. Between airfare, accommodation, and other travel-related expenses, the costs can quickly add up. Moreover, gaining access to some of the world's most renowned art collections can come with a hefty price tag, sometimes amounting to hundreds before entering the building. Beyond the monetary considerations, there's also the unpredictability of the art world. Imagine making the journey only to discover that the specific piece or artist's work you were eager to see is temporarily on loan to another institution. Such scenarios can be disappointing, to say the least. Recognizing these challenges, we have taken the initiative to compile a diverse range of paintings from various sources. Our digital collections ensure that art enthusiasts can access and enjoy these masterpieces without the constraints of geography, cost, or availability.
